WOM w.semi™ 12 MW Floating Wind Turbine Platform Tank Model Test Concluding Ceremony Held

The concluding ceremony of the w.semi™ wave basin test for the WOM semi-submersible wind turbine foundation was conducted at the Wison Center on August 8, 2023. Senior Vice President Mr. Li Zhiyong, Chief Ship Scientist Mr. Hu Jintao, and Technical Director of the Wind Power Division Dr. Chen Weimin of WOM, together with Professor Xiao Longfei from Shanghai Jiaotong University delivered consecutive speeches. Associate Professor Liu Mingyue from Shanghai Jiaotong University, as the project leader, provided an overview of the testing procedure and presented the relevant results. Representatives from esteemed institutions such as the China Classification Society (CCS), American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Bureau Veritas, and Det Norske Veritas (DNV) were present at the ceremony, engaging in vigorous and productive discussions.



Professor Xiao Longfei from Shanghai Jiaotong University said in his speech that, "I would like to thank WOM for choosing to cooperate with us on this wave basin test research. By conducting simulation tests under diverse and challenging working conditions, we have acquired a significant amount of data. Such data has greatly contributed to the refinement and enhancement of Wison’s concept and its optimization, while also proving immensely valuable for our research efforts. We anticipate an increase in collaborative research opportunities, thereby fostering the industrialization of scientific research outcomes."


Dr. Chen Weimin of WOM said that, "I would like to thank Shanghai Jiaotong University for providing us with exceptional testing facilities. The successful conclusion of the wave basin test has significantly enhanced the technical advancement of w.semi™ and represents a significant milestone in Wison's semi-submersible floating wind concept. We will utilize the valuable data acquired from the test to enhance and refine the design scheme. WOM also anticipates strengthening its collaboration with Shanghai Jiaotong University and the classification societies to facilitate the commercialization of w.semi™ and its foray into the global market."
